The terms for using ApplySafer

The agreement between you and Nikah AI Ltd for using ApplySafer: accounts, reviews, jobs, employer plans, complaints, liability and governing law.

Last updated 4 October 2026 · Version 2026-10-04

These terms are the agreement between you and Nikah AI Ltd (“we”, “us”), a company registered in England and Wales, number 17199968, registered office Office 1216, 60 Tottenham Court Road, Fitzrovia, London W1T 2EW, which runs ApplySafer. By creating an account, posting anything or buying a plan you agree to them. If you only browse, sections 5, 10 and 13 to 17 apply to you. Please also read our privacy notice, which explains how we use personal data.

1. What ApplySafer is

ApplySafer lets people read information about UK employers from official registers, read and write reviews of workplaces, find jobs and send applications, and lets employers post jobs and reply to reviews. We provide the platform. We are not your employer or a party to any job, offer or employment contract, we do not act on behalf of candidates or employers in any recruitment decision, and we do not guarantee that you will get a job, a reply or an application. Beyond the verification described in section 8 we do not check employers or their adverts, and information from public registers is shown as filed.

We never charge candidates. Looking for work, applying and writing reviews are free, and no one may ask a candidate for a fee through ApplySafer.

2. Accounts

  • You must be 16 or over to create an account.
  • An account is either a candidate account or an employer account. You choose when you sign up and cannot change it. One account is allowed per email address; we do not check identity documents, but you must not open accounts to get around these terms.
  • Give accurate information, keep your password secure and do not let anyone else use your account. Tell us at support@applysafer.com if you think it has been misused. You are responsible for what is done through your account unless it was used without your permission and you were not careless.
  • An employer account must be opened by, or with the authority of, the business it acts for.

3. Writing reviews and replies

Reviews come from candidate accounts only. A review starts a thread; the thread runs to four posts in a fixed order — the reviewer, the company, the reviewer once more and the company once more. Company replies come only from a verified employer account. The same rules apply to reviews and replies. When you post, you promise that:

  • it is about your own experience of the employer (as an employee, worker, contractor or applicant);
  • opinions are honestly held and clearly expressed as opinion, and any statement of fact you believe to be true;
  • it does not name or identify any individual (for example a manager or colleague), and contains no one's contact details;
  • it contains no information about anyone's health, ethnicity, religion or beliefs, sexual orientation, sex life, political opinions, trade union membership, genetic or biometric data, or criminal record;
  • it does not disclose confidential information, trade secrets or anything you are legally bound not to disclose;
  • it is not threatening, harassing, abusive, hateful, obscene or otherwise unlawful, and does not encourage anyone to break the law;
  • it is genuine: you were not paid, rewarded or asked to write it, you are not acting for the employer, a competitor or anyone connected with them, and you have not posted more than one review of the same employer;
  • it does not infringe anyone's copyright or other rights.

Every review is read by a person before it is published and may be refused. You can withdraw your own review at any time from My reviews; it stops being public at once. Its words stay in our moderation and posting records and are replaced with a removal notice 730 days after the last decision on it, or straight away if you erase your account.

No one can buy influence over reviews. Employers cannot pay us to remove, hide, reorder, edit or delay reviews, and no plan, promotion or payment affects which reviews are shown or how. We do not offer anything to anyone in return for writing a review.

Licence. You keep ownership of what you post. You give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display, moderate and make it available as part of ApplySafer, including in search results about the employer. The licence ends when your content is withdrawn or removed, except that we may keep the records described in our privacy notice for as long as they are needed to deal with a legal complaint or claim.

4. Moderation, removal and suspension

We may refuse, remove, or restrict access to any content that we reasonably believe breaks these terms or the law, or that we are legally required to remove, and we may suspend or close an account that does so or is used to mislead, harass or defraud. We act on reports and our own checks. Where we remove or restrict your content or account we will tell you what we did and why — in your account or by email — unless the law prevents it or it would compromise an investigation. How to challenge a decision is set out in section 6.

5. If you believe a review is defamatory about you

We operate the process in section 5 of the Defamation Act 2013 and the Defamation (Operators of Websites) Regulations 2013. Send a notice of complaint using the “complain about this review” link under the review (no account needed) or to legal@applysafer.com. A valid notice must give your name and an email address, the words complained of, where they appear, why they are defamatory of you, the meaning you say they carry, what is factually inaccurate or what opinion is not supported by fact, and whether you agree to your name being given to the poster. If it is incomplete we will tell you what is missing.

  • Within 48 hours of receiving a valid notice we send it to the poster (without your name, if you ask us not to share it). In counting 48 hours, time falling on a Saturday, Sunday, Good Friday, Christmas Day or a bank holiday in England and Wales is disregarded.
  • The poster has until midnight at the end of the fifth day after we notify them to reply.
  • If the poster does not reply by their deadline, we remove the statement within 48 hours of that deadline ending; if they agree to removal, we remove it within 48 hours of their reply. Either way we tell you once it is down.
  • If the poster refuses removal and gives their full name and postal address, we tell you, and we give you those details only if the poster consents or a court orders it. The statement stays up unless we decide to remove it under section 4.
  • If we have no private means of contacting the poster, we remove the statement within 48 hours of your notice.
  • If you have already sent us notices about the same statement on two or more occasions and it was removed each time, we remove it within 48 hours of your further notice.

We do not decide whether a statement is true. Nothing in this process stops us removing content that breaks these terms.

6. Reporting content, complaints and appeals

Anyone can report content using the Report link on every review thread (which covers the replies in it) and every job advert, or at online safety — no account needed. To report a reply, report the review thread and say which reply. We review reports within two business days, and faster where someone may be at risk. A job advert reported by three different people (counted by connection, not by name) is taken offline automatically while we review it.

If you disagree with a decision we made — to remove or refuse your content, to keep content you reported, or to suspend your account — or you want to complain about how we handle reports or comply with the Online Safety Act 2023, email safety@applysafer.com. We acknowledge within two business days and give you a decision with reasons within ten business days. If we removed something wrongly, we restore it. This does not affect any other right you have, including complaining to Ofcom or going to court.

7. Applying for jobs

For vacancies advertised here, ApplySafer acts as an employment agency within the meaning of the Employment Agencies Act 1973: we introduce work-seekers to employers, and the employer decides everything about hiring. We are not your employer and we are not the hirer. This is free for you. We never charge a work-seeker anything, at any stage, and there is no charge path for a candidate anywhere in the product. We do not vet, check or verify any applicant's identity, qualifications, registration or criminal-record status, and we say so on every advert - for a role that needs those checks, the employer carries them out, and for roles involving work with vulnerable people we do not pass applications on at all and you apply to the employer directly.

What we keep when you apply. Because we pass your application to an employer, the law requires us to keep a record of it: your name, your address, your date of birth if you are under 22, the terms that applied, a fingerprint of the CV file we carried, which employers we introduced you to and when, and what statutory enquiries we made. We keep it for 12 months after your last application and then delete it automatically. We keep no copy of your CV - only the fingerprint, its size and its type, which prove which document we sent without holding the document. Because this record is a legal obligation, an erasure request cannot shorten the 12 months, and we tell you so rather than quietly keeping it: see the privacy notice.

When you apply through ApplySafer we email your application and CV to the address the employer gave for that job, and keep no copy. You are responsible for what your application contains. Once delivered, the employer holds it as a separate controller under its own privacy notice, and any recruitment process is between you and the employer. Do not include anything in an application you do not want the employer to have.

8. Employers: verification and job adverts

Employer accounts are for businesses. By opening one you confirm you are acting for the purposes of a trade, business or profession, so consumer-contract rules for people buying as consumers do not apply to employer purchases. To post jobs or reply to reviews you must verify that you represent the company, using one of the methods offered; replying in the company's name needs a stronger form of verification than posting jobs.

Each time you post or edit a job advert you confirm, and we rely on your confirmation, that the following are true, and they must remain true for as long as the advert is published or republished:

  • you are authorised to advertise the role for the company;
  • the job is real and currently open, and the advert is accurate and not misleading;
  • the advert complies with the Equality Act 2010 — it contains no unlawful requirement relating to age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage or civil partnership, pregnancy or maternity, race (including nationality), religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation, and any occupational requirement you rely on is genuine, lawful and explained in the advert;
  • no applicant will be asked for money or anything of value — no application, registration, training, uniform, equipment or vetting fee — in connection with the role;
  • it is not a pyramid or multi-level marketing scheme, and does not require applicants to recruit others or buy stock, starter kits or training;
  • you will handle applications you receive lawfully as an independent controller under UK GDPR, use them only to recruit for the advertised role or similar roles the candidate would expect, and not add candidates to marketing lists; and
  • you will not use ApplySafer to contact candidates other than in reply to an application they sent you.

Every advert states whether the job is permanent or temporary, and an advert that states pay must also state the nature of the work, where it is done and the minimum experience, training or qualifications needed. We screen adverts automatically and refuse ones that appear to break these rules or that include contact details, and we may remove any advert, suspend an employer account or query an occupational requirement at any time. Each advert runs for 30 days and then closes. You may edit, close, republish or delete your adverts from your dashboard.

9. Employer plans, promotion and payment

  • Free: 1 live job at a time per Companies House company number, shared by everyone who speaks for that company.
  • Tier 1: £200 a month for up to 10 live jobs.
  • Tier 2: £300 a month for up to 20 live jobs.
  • Promotion: £30 buys one job 7 days at the top of search results and of the company's listings, labelled “Promoted” wherever it is shown. It is a one-off purchase that starts when payment is confirmed (or, if the job is already promoted, is added to the end of the promoted time) and does not renew.

You buy plans and promotion from Nikah AI Ltd. Payment is taken by our payment provider, Stripe, on its hosted checkout. The price shown is the total you pay: Nikah AI Ltd is not registered for VAT, so no VAT is charged and nothing is added at checkout. Prices are in pounds sterling.

Plans are billed monthly in advance and renew automatically each month until cancelled. You can cancel at any time from Plan & billing; cancellation takes effect at the end of the month you have paid for, and you keep the plan until then. When a plan ends, your company returns to the free allowance: live jobs funded by the plan close except one, and a job with paid promotion time is the one kept. If you move to a lower plan, jobs already live stay live but you cannot publish more until you are within the new limit. If a payment fails, jobs already live stay live, but until payment succeeds you can publish only within the free allowance (1 live job per Companies House company number).

You can change your mind. If you are buying as a consumer - as an individual, mainly for reasons outside any business you run - you have 14 days from the day you buy to cancel under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.

For a monthly plan, asking us to start straight away does not take that right away. A plan runs month after month and so is never completely delivered inside 14 days, which is the only thing that ends the right for a service. You keep the full 14 days; if you cancel inside them we refund you less a proportionate amount for the days you had access, and nothing else is deducted. For a promotion week it is different, because a promotion is finished on day 7 - inside the 14 days - so once it has run for the whole period you paid for, the right is used up and there is nothing left to cancel. The box next to the pay button says which of the two applies, in those words, and we keep a copy of the exact wording you agreed to with its version and date.

And whoever you are, including a business: if you have had it for 14 days or less and you are not happy, tell us and we refund you in full - no questions and no reason needed. After 14 days we do not refund the remainder of a month you have already started, and you keep the plan to the end of it. We always refund a double charge, a charge after you cancelled, or a charge at the wrong amount.

Promotion time is not refunded if you delete the job; if you close a promoted job and republish it before the paid time runs out, the remaining time resumes, but deleting a job ends its promotion. A promotion that has started is refunded for the unused whole days. We may change plan prices or limits by giving you at least 30 days' notice before your next renewal - in your account as well as by email, so the notice does not depend on a message arriving - and you may cancel before the change takes effect. The full position, with the figures and our response times, is on refunds and cancellation.

10. Using the site properly

You must not:

  • copy, scrape, harvest or bulk-download content or data from ApplySafer, or access it by automated means, other than ordinary search-engine indexing;
  • try to identify the author of an anonymous review, or harass anyone because of something posted;
  • interfere with, probe or overload the service, get around any limit or security measure, or reverse engineer it;
  • impersonate anyone, or misrepresent your connection with an employer;
  • use ApplySafer to send spam, advertising or unsolicited messages; or
  • use it for anything unlawful, fraudulent or harmful.

Four kinds of content are not allowed on ApplySafer at all, by anyone. These rules apply to every user of the service without exception:

  • pornographic content;
  • content that encourages, promotes or provides instructions for suicide;
  • content that encourages, promotes or provides instructions for self-harm; or
  • content that encourages, promotes or provides instructions for an eating disorder or for serious weight-loss behaviour.

We remove any of it on sight and we do not need a report to do so. Nothing about this site requires any of it, and an account that posts it is closed rather than warned.

11. Intellectual property

The ApplySafer name, logo, software and site design belong to us or our licensors. Company information from public registers is used under the Open Government Licence and remains subject to it. Apart from the licence in section 3, nothing in these terms transfers ownership of anything.

12. Employers' responsibility for adverts and applications

If you use an employer account, you will compensate us for any loss, liability, fine or reasonable legal costs we incur because of a claim or regulatory action arising from your job adverts, your replies, your handling of applications you receive, or your breach of these terms.

13. Our responsibility to you

We provide ApplySafer with reasonable skill and care, but we do not promise it will always be available, error-free or complete. Reviews are the opinions of their authors, not our views, and register data is shown as filed with the date we read it.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded. If you use ApplySafer as a consumer, nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

If you use ApplySafer for business purposes, then, subject to the paragraph above: we are not liable for loss of profits, revenue, business, goodwill or data, or for any indirect or consequential loss; and our total liability to you in connection with ApplySafer in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of £100 and the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

14. Ending this agreement

You can stop using ApplySafer at any time and ask us to delete your account from Account settings or by writing to us. We may suspend or close your account under section 4, or if we stop providing ApplySafer, giving reasonable notice where we can. Sections 3 (licence, as limited there), 5, 12, 13 and 16 continue after the agreement ends.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms to reflect changes in the law or in ApplySafer. We will show the new date and version at the top of this page and, for any change that materially affects you, tell you by email at least 30 days before it takes effect for paid plans, and before your next use of an account otherwise. If you do not agree, you may stop using ApplySafer and close your account.

16. Complaints, disputes and ADR

If something is wrong, tell us at support@applysafer.com or use our complaints procedure. We acknowledge within 1 working day and give a final answer within 10 working days, or explain why we need longer.

When we tell you our decision we will also tell you what you can do if you are not happy with it. We are not a member of an alternative dispute resolution scheme, and no regulator requires us to be one for a service like this. You can take the matter to your card issuer, to Citizens Advice (0808 223 1133), to Trading Standards, or to the county court - the small claims track handles claims up to £10,000 and you do not need a solicitor. ApplySafer takes its own payments rather than selling through a third-party payment service, so there is no separate payment provider with its own refund window to appeal to.

A complaint about how we have handled your personal data goes a different way. You have a right to complain to us about data protection, and we must acknowledge it within 30 days. See the data-protection route and the privacy notice. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office without coming to us first.

17. Law and courts

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.

18. General

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Nobody other than you and us has any right to enforce these terms under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we can still enforce it later. We may transfer this agreement to a business that takes over ApplySafer, and will tell you if we do. For business users, these terms and any order you place are the entire agreement about ApplySafer and replace anything said before.
